Amygdala is the part of brain function that is one of two almond-shaped groups of nuclei located deep and medially within the temporal lobes of the brain and complex vertebrates. Shown in research to perform a primary role in the processing of memory, decision-making and emotional responses (including fear, anxiety, and AGGRESSION), the amygdalae are considered part of the limbic system.
Scientifically, this is what shows our teens brain function & behavior and demonstrates that it isn't like those of adults, this is the main cause of teens engaging in risky behavior. Studies have shown that the brain continues to mature and develop where in adults the amygdala matures at the age of 25.
Acknowledging that amygdala is responsibe for immediate reaction including fear and AGGRESSIVE behavior, we have to realize that the youth enact aggressive responses without being able to think through their actions.
This is how we derived the name "consequence" for our game, so the youth can have the benefit of learning the consequences beforehand... We will implement many of the situations and realities of today to be carried out in the game, with the consequences to follow, they will then experience our virtual reality judges in a mock courtroom that can usher in the insight needed to prevent them from devastating and tragic outcomes.
